St. John's is one of those village defining buildings. You can't picture the community without it, or what would fill that space if it wasn't there. In fact, the current structure dates to 1895, and was designed by William Critchlow Harris. After being deconsecrated in 2014 by the Anglican Church, the building remained vacant, until it was purchased by the Friends of St. John's Arichat, which now uses the space as a Centre for the Arts. Here, we can continue to express our musical and artistic cultural heritage with the community and with visitors, while at the same time, preserving this beautiful structure for the next generation. Entities such as ours have a responsibility to the community to leverage all means necessary to save our space. We are proud of our history, heritage and the impact we make. Le bâtiment de St. John’s définit l’apparence du village. Il est impossible d’imaginer la communauté sans St. John’s, ni même d’envisager ce qui pourrait le remplacer s’il n’était pas là. Dans les faits, l’édifice actuel date de 1895 et a été conçu par William Critchlow Harris. Après sa désacralisation en 2014 par l’Église Anglicane, le bâtiment est resté vacant jusqu’à son rachat par l’association Friends of St. John’s Arichat, qui l’utilise désormais comme un centre artistique. Ici, nous pouvons continuer à exprimer notre patrimoine culturel artistique et musical avec notre communauté et les visiteurs, tout en préservant l’élégante structure pour la prochaine génération.
